The name of the game to driving is staying safe, but when you pass your driving test you are not tested on all road conditions and you may find yourself driving without ever testing yourself in different conditions. Passing your Test is confirmation that you have reached the DSA's minimum driving safety requirements.
Pass Plus will help you to understand what it is like to drive in different conditions, helping you to stay safe on the roads and keeping your insurance premiums down. We will spend a minimum of 6 hours driving in different places, conditions, and roads, exploring the characteristics and risks in these environments, and working out how best to stay safe, whilst still getting to wherever you are heading. Many insurance companies will "reward" you for completing the course, by reducing your insurance premium, in recognition of your increased skills, awareness knowledge and ability. They are willing to do this because they understand that you are a lower risk on the roads, compared to a newly qualified driver. One Insurance Company has confirmed to me that they will reduce the insurance premium by 30%, having successfully completed the Pass Plus course. The price for the first six hours is £190, and then £32 per hour after that, if any extra hours are needed. After that, it was business as usual and we simply went for a chat with some occasional driving thrown in. I would recommend doing pass plus in the one day as it allows you to travel a little further than if doing it in 2 hour slots. This is easily done, as Andrew will share some of the driving with you and stop so you can get a bite to eat.
