‘Andrew helped me go from someone who cried before every drive to somebody who looked forward to my weekly lessons and enjoys driving. Right up to passing (and beyond) the support I received was informative, helpful and custom to my needs. Couldn’t recommend learning with Andrew more.’

Thanks Faye.

hannah o'leary had a successful driving test :

I thoroughly enjoyed learning to drive with Andy, he was a great instructor and really helped to build my confidence up. I was able to broaden my experience by driving more challenging routes, which I didn't believe I was capable of at first but Andy was very encouraging. He made me feel calm even in stressful situations and has a great sense of humour so lessons were always fun. I would definitely recommend learning to drive with Andy, he's the best around! :)

Murray J. and his Pass Plus course

"Having passed my test with Andrew, there was no doubt in my mind that sticking with him to do pass plus was the right decision. We started off by going over the plan for the day and discussing how the pass plus scheme worked. After that, it was business as usual and we simply went for a chat with some occasional driving thrown in. We thought of a personally tailored route and this is yet another thing that sets Andrew apart from the rest. I would recommend doing pass plus in the one day as it allows you to travel a little further than if doing it in 2 hour slots. This is easily done, as Andrew will share some of the driving with you and stop so you can get a bite to eat.
Overall, I can once again not recommend Andrew enough and you will not regret choosing him for pass plus.
5/5 "

"Having recently passed my driving test I couldn't have wished for a better instructor than Andrew. In a little over 2 months, his calm, patient and efficient teaching methods have taken me from a total beginner to a fully fledged driver. Both my theory and practical tests were passed first time, and the Pass Plus course was informative and useful for other driving techniques.

Andrew has consistently shown his skill as an instructor through his knowledge, advice and organisation; from arranging a mock test with another instructor, to visually and verbally explaining how to deal with various situations, and to always being supportive and positive in his teaching. The mock test Andrew arranged for me to have was such a useful session, as I got to experience how it felt to be in the car with somebody different, as well as picking up on key areas I was getting the most faults in. I went from 17 minor faults and 3 serious faults on my mock to just 8 minor faults (no serious faults) on my actual test - an amazing result in just under two weeks!

He is fun to drive with, as you can have a good laugh yet still be learning, and you don't ever feel unsafe or awkward driving with him. No matter what you get wrong during the lessons, he will help you out of that situation, and thoroughly explain what happened and what you could have done instead to be safe once you've parked up and calmed down. Naturally it's important to try to be safe and confident when driving but he understands how scary it can be when things go wrong. He never shouts or makes you feel bad about making a mistake. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend Andrew for all learners, especially beginners, and I thank him for all the hard work he has put in towards helping me become a safe, qualified driver."

jen c, 2nd December. first time pass, cheltenham driving test.

"So happy to have passed my driving test first time - now my long suffering parents can have a rest from being my taxi drivers.

Thanks to Andrew 3 members of my family can now drive!! I would recommend Andrew Knight Driving to everybody thinking about learning to drive. He will make you feel at ease and confident when learning and help you progress at your own pace. I have enjoyed every session I have had and each one felt more like a friendly chat whilst driving than a driving 'lesson.' The calm and encouraging manner in which Andrew teaches has made me more confident and is definitely one of the reasons I have been able to pass first time. Thank you so much! See you in June for Pass Plus."

Simon b. Cheltenham, Driving Test Pass

Simon came to me having struggled to pass his Driving Test. We worked on the skills that the Test showed up as needing attention. We also worked on how having a Driving Examiner in the car can affect a drive ( I always think it is the same pressure as driving your Company Boss to his next meeting).

"I want to thank Andrew for his skills in teaching people how to drive. He has been a fantastic instructor where he showed his patience with me whilst taking my lessons. Not only does he take the time to teach you how to pass the test, he also helps with what happens afterwards. He makes you feel very relaxed that there are no nerves after passing. As he explains, it's all about "just going for a drive" and use the examiner as a sat nav  :)"

A parent of a recent success kindly wrote these words:

From the moment I met Andrew I had confidence that he was the right person to teach my 17yrs old daughter to drive.

Being a typical teenager – not overly confident and not very communicative, I was impressed that Andrew was able to create a professional relationship very quickly.  His sense of humour without doubt helped to break the ice.

Passing on the first attempt has been a wonderful experience for her and I shall be arranging for Andrew to conduct a Motorway lesson in the near future.

You said she could pass Andrew – you were right!!!

Thank you

Anna PASSES FIRST TIME

  1. Congratulations to Anna H, who convincingly passed her Driving Test in Cheltenham this week, despite being so nervous at the start that she could hardly sign the declaration at the beginning of the Test!
Despite the nerves, and despite the stall, once Anna decided to relax and just go for a drive, everything became natural for her. Time to buy a car Anna, and then we can go and do the Pass Plus course in your car! See you soon, stay safe.

  1. Anna came to me having been working with another Driving Instructor. We worked together, and got the result we were after, at Anna's first attempt.
  1. Anna has kindly sent this summary of our work together:

  1. "Andrew Knight is a great instructor who has built up my self confidence a lot since I first started having lessons with him in May. He is calm, professional and patient. His good sense of humour makes lessons enjoyable and fun, whilst learning how to drive in a safe manor. I really don't think I would of passed first time with another instructor and can not thank him enough. I would highly recommend Andrew to family members and friends, He is always on time and lessons are great value for money.
    Thank you Andrew!"

Amy T. PASSES FIRST TIME

At the beginning of June I was given a challenge... "Help me pass my Driving test before I go back to Uni". The customer had never driven before, was nervous about starting, and her older sister had failed with someone else a number of times.
We created a plan of action and important stages to reach within a certain time frame, to be able to stay on track to reach our goal. These were achieved.
This morning Amy Thompson passed her Driving Test in Cheltenham with just two minor errors! This afternoon, Amy goes back to Uni.
We achieved our aim.. To pass the Test, and to pass it on Time.
Many congratulations Amy! Good luck at Uni, and see you next summer for the Refresher sessions covered by the Two Year Warranty!

  1. Many congratulations to Chris O in Cheltenham for her First Attempt Pass this morning. All that worry and over-thinking everything? No, we don't need that, we just need to drive the way you drive. I look forward to doing your Pass Plus in your new car at the end of June.

Jake B. passed his Driving Test in Cheltenham, with no Driver Faults!

Jake was kind enough to send me this note to be added to the website:

"Andrew was very helpful and friendly throughout my lessons and really helped me relax and enjoy learning to drive, getting 0 faults was brilliant and I'm looking forward to the freedom as well as the huge help it will be for my work"

It will be a memorable day for Jake!

Many thanks to Tom W for his very kind and unexpected Christmas card

Lauren H  tells of her first three driving sessions
When I got into the car on my first lesson I was nervous and worried about taking  control of a vehicle, I had never drove a car before and I doubted my abilities.  I was worried about holding up the traffic, learning how to control the car and
also if I would have a harsh instructor.
Being my first lesson I didn't  expect to do much driving but after talking to Andrew about the different gears,  what to do as your approaching a junction and the functions of the car, I felt  reassured and a lot more comfortable in the car, After that I did the cockpit  drill and started to do some clutch control, Once I felt confident I did two  short laps of the Benhall area, I was feeling more confident in the car at this point. On my second lesson we went over a similar routine to my first lesson but I gained more confidence and felt I was becoming a safer driver.
My third lesson was in the Warden Hill area, I was learning junctions. I became nervous and struggled at certain times, but Andrew made me feel calm and helped me understand where I was going wrong, He explained situations well using an
iPad app that showed various different situations that could occur whilst on the road, and reassured me that I was doing well if I started to panic whilst driving.
Andrew is very calm and cheery and makes you feel relaxed, definitely the kind of attitude you need  from an instructor when learning to drive, I am now going onto my sixth driving session with Andrew and feeling confident with my progress.

To Whom It May Concern
I am writing to recommend Andrew Knight as a fully qualified, knowledgeable and experienced Driving Instructor.

Although I obtained my driving license in my home country of Venezuela in 1989, also my USA (Texas) driving license in 2005 and have driven motor cars globally (Venezuela, Germany, Malaysia, Holland, Italy, USA) for over 20 years, I struggled to pass my UK drivers license on two occasions with a previous Driving Instructor based in Cheltenham which shattered my self-confidence.

Andrew restored my self- confidence in just 10 lessons and I successfully passed my driving test at the first attempt under Andrews’s tutorage.
I have no hesitation in recommending Andrew.
